Here at Phuket Has Been Good To
Us, we try hard to bring the people of Phuket events that are new, innovative
and different than the average fundraising event. And our upcoming event Black Tie Muay Thai is no exception.
On 29th November, two
worlds will collide – the sophistication of a high-end dinner in a beautiful ballroom
meets the gritty, raw energy of world class Muay Thai fighters!
Muay
Thai is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with
various clinching techniques. This physical and mental discipline is known as
"the art of eight limbs" because of its combined use of fists,
elbows, knees and shins.
Muay
Thai’s popularity became widespread internationally in the twentieth century
and, in order to bring you the best
Muay Thai possible, we are partnering with Singpatong Sitnumnoi Muay Thai training
camp based in Patong.
(Head trainer Khun Numnoi)
Guests will be treated to a
fabulous meal and free flow beverages whilst watching some of the best fighters
on the island display their talents!
But this event isn’t all serious.
Ever heard of blindfold boxing? Imagine putting 2-3 boxers in a ring,
blindfolding them and seeing how they go! The result is quite hilarious!
The 2011 Thailand Muay Thai
champion will be there, showing off his incredible technique. There will also
be a Muay Boran demonstration – a taste of some old school Muay Thai!
So please join us for this sophisticated
night of Muay Thai on Saturday 29th November in the Similan Ballroom
at Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort.
Dress is smart and elegant…and
men, black-tie is optional!
